What is direct messaging?
Direct messaging is a quick and easy way to send a private message to an individual or specific group. They are intended for exchanges that may not be relevant or useful outside of the intended recipients and, therefore, not searchable. The ADTRAN Support Community Code of Conduct guidelines on the Help page and the policies mentioned under Terms and Conditions apply to direct messaging. Direct messages can only be sent to other community members you have added as a friend.
How can I send and/or view a private message?
On the Private Messages tab of your profile page, there is a interface similar to a standard e-mail inbox. Here you can create, view, and manage your private messages.
How do I know when to use direct messaging and when to post to the community? What if my question is directed at specific individual or group?
Could someone else find the information useful? If so, then post it. If not, then it may be more appropriate for a private message to the particular individual or group.
What are labels and how are they used?
Labels provide a private way to logically group your personal contacts, similar to the way you might use an e-mail distribution list. They can be used for things like direct messages and sharing. While recipients can view the other contacts included on the item that was shared or the direct message that was sent, none of the recipients can view the name of your label.
How do I create a label?
On the Friends tab of your profile page, there is a button in the left-hand column titled 'Create Label'. Click the button, enter the name of the label, and click 'Save'.
How can I apply a label?
Please follow the instructions below to apply a label.
