7100 10.8.1 Audio Prompts

Jump to solution

To All,

Has anyone run across an issue on 10.8.1 code on 7100 not being able to call an internal extension to record audio prompts?  If I put in an external number the call goes through but when using an internal number of phone directly connected to the 7100 it says unable to connect call.  Phone is registered and can take directly dialed extension call from other phones.  This issue happens on all internal extensions.  The problem did not occur last holiday when we where running 10.7 code.

Matt,

I uploaded the show run and the Debug Voice Verbose however right after uploading them I figured out the issue.  I did not upload Debug Sip Stack as it was empty.  In Debug Voice Verbose I see I am getting a transcoding error it looks like the reason it is not working is I have the phones set to a codec list that only allows G711 and the recorded call recording studio only supports G729.  I resolved the issue by adding G729 to the codec list.

John,

I just tested this on my 7100 running R10.8.1.E and did not have any issues.  I went to Voice > Audio Prompts > New Audio Prompt, entered my 4 digit extension in the Phone Number to Call field, and clicked Save and Record.  If those are the same steps you are following, can you submit the configuration as well as the output of a debug voice verbose and debug sip stack messages both enabled at the same time to our FTP server with the instructions below?

Open Internet Explorer web browser on their PC
Type the following URL:  ftp://ftp.adtran.com

Press the Alt key, click View, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer

Double-click the "Incoming" folder
Drag and drop files from PC into the Internet Explorer window

Reply to this post with the exact filenames used so we can retrieve the files

Thanks,
Matt

John,

Thanks for the update and the resolution.  The voicemail and auto attendant systems only support the G729 codec locally.  The unit will transcode between G711 and G729 for calls out of a SIP trunk, but it does not transcode for calls from local phones.  I would expect if you called the AA or tried to check voicemail from a voice user account restricted to G711 it would fail too.

Thanks,

Matt

I am having the same issue and this just started happening.  I checked the codecs and both are listed.  We tried multiple phones and everyone of them state the cannot connect message.  It worked last October which is when the last time we had to update the prompts.  My client has had some massive changes in personnel and really needs to get the new prompts set.  Any ideas of what and where to check.

You will need to provide a copy of the config, as well as debug voice verbose, and debug sip stack messages.  Try to do this at time with no other traffic if you can to limit the amount of data captured.  Once debugs are started go in and have the system attempt to dial a known good number to record the message.  Then undebug all and send in your results for review.
