Is Netvanta 7100 still a viable option for new deployments?

Hi, We are starting to look at replacing an old PBX phone system at one of our locations.  We have 7 other sites on an Adtran 7100 but were wondering if we should be looking at other PBX options.  I heard that Adtran is no longer making 7100s as of last year but that current systems are still being supported.  Can someone speak to the viability of the Netvanta 7100 for new deployments? Thank you.

Here is ADTRANs response on the 7100: We are still selling and supporting the product and is available for sale through all our channels.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

Thanks!

Thank you mark.  An important question that I still have is are Netvanta 7100s still being manufactured or is Adtran selling only what is left in stock?

Still being manufactured. We still have many customers selling and deploying the 7100.

Thx.

Any plans to come out with a unit that has Gigabit ports?  The 7100 is still only 10/100.

As of right now there hasn't been any current plans for a gigabit version. ost customers just use our gigabit 1500 series switches in addition to the 7100.

By doing so, that creates a potential choke point within the network.  Any traffic that has to be routed through the 7100, or switched through to another port is now throttled down to 100Mb. (Dependent upon network design of course).

Re: Is Netvanta 7100 still a viable option for new deployments?

The NV7100 has two gigabit ports to connect to the 1500 series switch, our 1500 series is a L3 switch that can do the switching between devices on the switch itself. The only times it would need to come back to the 7100 is if going to internet and then you would limited to the backplane routing speed of 30M of the NV7100. Other traffic would just be voice traffic which would be gigabit to the 7100 for phone SIP and RTP, but RTP would be phone to phone if local calls.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Juad,

By the way it UCSS (Server line) i.e. UC/ECS that has been end of life not the UCAS (Appliance Line) i.e. 7060/7100 line.
