alias won't external transfer from ring group with Sip Trunks

Jump to solution

7100 with alias assigned to ring group , call coverage set to transfer to external number. When you dial alias it gives fast busy, when you dial option to ring group from AA it forwards out to the external number?

Trouble was "reject external" under trunk accounts for sip trunks.

Because the call was not answered by 7100 when dialing the alias ( ring group users were not able to answer ) the unit could not transfer the call externally.

When you called the main number and then chose option which rang to ring group......the 7100 had already answered with AA so it was able to then perform the external transfer setup as 2nd step in call coverage.

Thank you for the assistance

Can you provide a little more detail, maybe the show run for the ring group would help, (remove or mask any private information).  And more detail on how you are dialing the alias when getting the fast busy, i.e. inbound call from outside dialing the ring group like dial by extesion, an internal phone dialing the ring group, etc.

Ring group call coverage rings 4 times to an extension and if she doesn't answer is then set to forward to external number.

If you dial the main number and get AA grt and choose option one ( transfers to ring group ) if it doesn't get answered it will forward out to number.

If you the dial the did or alias ( have tried it both ways ) it rings ext 4 times and then will give fast busy if not answered when it reaches the external forward.

If your outgoing telco is SIP and requires authentication you will have to add a SIP Identity under VoIP Settings for the Ring Group using the DID number with the proper Auth-Name and Auth-Password on the trunk.  Otherwise can you do a de si st me, de  voic ring-group XXXX (XXXX=RG Ext), and finally de voic ver.  Then turn on logging and make a test call, turn off logging, scrub the log of any private information and then submit, one of those should help identify the issue.  I think what is going on is the ring group does not have permission to access the external trunk somewhere.  A work around would be to create a SIP user without a phone and set the call coverage options to forward out to the external number, with never ring set, then set that user as the user of last resort in your call coverage for the ring group.  The user should have the proper permission to access the outside trunk.  Also please post your AOS version number.
