6355 on a dhcp network

Jump to solution

I am looking for the best practice of using a NetVanta 6355 for SIP phones when connecting to a network already configured with a dhcp server. I have learned the hard way when I configured the switch and thought it would be safe to put onto the network only to find out that the switch took control of dhcp causing our current phone system to crash. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I would like to have this switch on our network controling only a few phones with the potential to expand.

Thanks,

Adam

Hello Adam,

Thank you for posting to our forum.  Were you looking to use the NV 6355 in a SIP Proxy mode where the IP phones are talking to a device like a Broadsoft, Metaswitch, or Asterisk out in the cloud?  Or were you thinking of something else?

Thanks,

Geoff

Yes that is the case exactly. We use Metaswitch to support our SIP phones
