We have an application where we need to extend (6) T1 PRI circuits between two locations.
From the documentation, it looks like the MX408e requires a layer-2 connection between the devices.
Is it possible to configure the MX480e over a layer-3 (routed) network? We currently have routers at both locations with multiple 10G connections between them, but no spare dark fiber.
If not, are there any devices that would allow us to extend T1 PRI circuits over a layer-3 network?
Yes, the MX408e can be deployed on a layer 3 routed network via the Network Ethernet Interface GigE copper/fiber 10/100. Each T1 will require 2.2mb of bandwidth and the network's latency will have to be low and predictable for private line like T1 performance (I recommend confirming the routed network has QoS capability to prioritize pwe t1 packets).
